Genesis Rising occurs in the far future, when the human race apparently controls most of the universe, thanks to an invention known as the organid. Organids are genetically engineered, organic ships that can adapt themselves to the strategies employed by the enemy. With these creations under their control, humanity keeps the entire universe under its control, by ruthlessly suppressing or destroying alien civilizations.
